The Confederation of Co-operative Housing (CCH) celebrated 30 years as the UK’s national representative body for co-operative housing at an event in the Houses of Parliament on 11th July 2023.

The UK’s co-operative housing sector is small – some 0.6% of housing supply – but generally thriving, and CCH’s vitality matches the community strength of the sector. CCH has grown to be an effective and dynamic community business, delivering for its members whilst sending a message about hope, inspiration and belief to a dysfunctional UK housing sector.

This publication – The Confederation of Co-operative Housing: 30 Years of Hope, Inspiration and Belief – tells the story of where CCH came from, how it has grown and what has made it so effective. In his introduction, Martyn Holmes, Chair of CCH said

“It is a history of how individuals and an organisation has grown and changed in response to the political and economic situations that it operates within. It feels timely to reflect on this when we have a new Government that has pledged its support to growing the co-operative sector, and CCH has developed a clear set of asks in our 2024 Manifesto for Change that sets out what we need to enable us to make that change happen.”
