CCH has registered five sets of co-operative housing society rules. This guidance explains what rules are available, which would be right to use in particular circumstances, key issues regarding rules and how to register using these rules.
Lockdown has shown that the rules under which many co-operatives are registered are not fit for purpose. We would recommend all housing co-operatives adopt rules that are compliant with the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014, allow virtual meetings and enable proxy voting.
