Board and team members of the Confederation of Co-operative Housing (CCH) were super pleased to attend the North West Housing Services (NWHS) Annual Members’ BBQ, joining tenant-members, partners and colleagues to celebrate two significant milestones in the organisation’s history.
This year’s event marked 20 years since the creation of North West Housing Services as a secondary housing co-operative, as well as 50 years since the beginnings of its predecessor organisation, Co-operative Development Services (CDS) Liverpool.
The annual BBQ provided a brilliant opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the Liverpool co-operative housing movement and recognise the dedication and commitment of NWHS members who continue to strengthen co-operative housing across the North West.
Speaking at the event, Hayley Hulme, CEO of NWHS said:
“Our annual BBQ is an opportunity to thank our members for their hard work and commitment. This year is extra special as we celebrate 20 years since the creation of NWHS as a secondary Co-operative and 50 years since the beginnings of our predecessor organisation, CDS (Co-operative Development Services) Liverpool.
We are incredibly proud of our history and our role in establishing and supporting the co-operative housing community in the North West. It’s an exciting time to be marking these milestones with a Government committed to growing the co-operative sector by 50% and increasing the number of social homes. Coupled with an incoming Labour and Co-operative Party Prime Minister there could not be a better time to be involved in the sector. We are working to ensure our co-operatives are ready to play their part in delivering these ambitions and are here for another 20 years and more.”
CCH was delighted to join them in recognising NWHS’s longstanding contribution to supporting housing co-operatives and empowering communities. We congratulate everyone at NWHS, past and present, on this remarkable achievement and look forward to continuing our work together to grow and strengthen the co-operative housing sector in the years ahead.
