CHICS Require Staff

19 March 2002

CHICS (Co-op Housing Integrated Computer Systems Ltd), produces housing management software for smaller housing organisations. We started back in the 80s from small beginnings within in the Co-op movement, and have progressed to providing Rents, Maintenance, Tenant Management and Stock Condition modules to 90 clients in England and Ireland.

We are looking for new staff in London and Bristol working on promotion and client support / training.

London

We are looking for 3 days, possibly up to 4 days a week, £19,110 pro rata - starting ASAP. Work will include:

Bristol

Probably 2 days a week, £16,380 pro rata - starting April.

The London post will work together with existing agent to establish the individual London identity. As the main office is here in Devon, they must be able to carry the organisation forward through their own initiative. The work will offer good pay and conditions, and obviously all possible support will be given from everyone here.

The kind of people we are looking for will have a good knowledge of CHICS and of computer systems in general. You don't need to know all about USBs and TCP/IPs, but you should be able to look in 'Network Neighbourhood', get a good idea as to how an office's computers are connected, and copy files from one computer to another. You will need space & facilities for own office work, we can help with computer if needed.

Obviously you will be committed to the ideals of small housing organisations and tenant involvement / control. The work will involve a fair bit of travel to housing organisation offices in London, and for the Bristol post, some visits around Britain.

Above all we want CHICS people to enjoy their work of meeting with users, and working together to find answers to questions which are sometimes not even straightforward to identify precisely. Falling off a log it ain't.

Lastly, we can only take on people who will be able to continue to fulfil any existing commitments to CHICS clients.

So, if this is the job for you, please let us know as soon as possible for full details, or if you have any ideas of people who might suit, pass the word along. Finally if you really like the look of this job but feel it's too many days for you, give us a ring and we'll talk about it.
