What ATIC Stands For
The Association for Tenant Involvement and Control exists:
- To protect the interests of existing and community controlled housing organisations.
- To promote opportunities for tenant and community control within the range of options for social housing tenure.
- To support and campaign for tenant and community control.
- To encourage the promotion of good practice and high standards of service in support of tenant and community control.
- To provide and promote mutual support and share information among members.
- To promote liaison and good relations with other bodies sharing similar purposes.
- To network with other groups with a similar purpose.
We are a membership organisation, with members drawn from tenant groups, tenant participation agencies and interested and involved individuals. We held our first policy conference and elected an executive committee in September 1997. Our work programme includes working with the ODPM on the Tenant Empowerment Grant regime, the review of the Right to Manage and tackling social exclusion. We have run a series of regional seminars on Tenant Empowerment Grants on behalf of the ODPM.
ATIC depends on membership subscriptions and income from events, as it receives no grant funding. Membership is open to any individual or organisation sharing ATIC's objectives.
