CCH Bulletin Summer 2000
Financial Futures
Recently the General Council have been considering how to finance the CCH's future, the fee structure and what services will be offered to members and other organisations.
We intend to examine the possibilities of accessing external sources of funding such as submitting another lottery bid, approaching the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, applying to the Housing Corporation for an Innovation and Good Practice Grant and looking for financial support from the wider co-operative movement.
To further strengthen our finances we are considering establishing a sister company that will provide training and consultancy services to co-ops and other housing organisations, these services will be offered at a reduced rate for member co-ops. We will be establishing a register of accredited people to deliver these services and will therefore be carrying out a skills audit within the movement.
We have decided that we will offer policy and procedure advice and information free to members and at a price to non-members.
It is thought that significant savings can be made for members by bulk buying certain products, such as energy, water, banking and insurance services, home appliances and furniture. We will be further investigating these possibilities in the near future.
It is felt that the current fee structure is inadequate in certain respects. It is intended that in the future this will be reserves based for member co-ops and membership based for federations. We are considering introducing a category for associate membership so that service agencies, housing associations and individuals who share our beliefs can join.
If you have views on any of these issues please send them to us.
