Breakfast with Ken Livingstone
On the 30th April at 10am sharp Ken Livingstone met residents of Redwood, Palm and Mulberry Housing Co-operatives (from Oxo Tower Wharf and neighbouring streets on London's South Bank) at The Museum Of Emotions at Oxo Tower Wharf. He was greeted by over a hundred people from the Coin Street community and enjoyed a champagne breakfast and a lively jazz band. Redwood Housing Co-op wanted to show their appreciation for all the positive action he took during the early 1980s in securing the precious South Bank land for housing rather than office buildings (remember him selling the land to the public for £1?).

Artist Peter Sylveire (from Redwood Housing Co-op) presented Mr Livingstone with a print of his painting "The Sub Urbans" which celebrates the GLC promoting equal rights for the gay community and ethnic minorities. Ken Livingstone admired the original painting, promising to buy it for his office if he became the Mayor of London! With a witty poem by Teddy Mosely (age 10) and fantastic inspirational singing by Tracey Campbell-Nation and Annette Telesford, the morning proved to be a very moving experience for all present. In his speech, Ken Livingstone said that this area of London was one of his personal favourites and that he would like more developments like ours. So, Mayor of London, let's see what you can do ...
